excited about Getting kids out fishing for free

Fishing NZ Adventures is very passionate about fishing and especially getting families, kids and younger people out on the water and fishing. Studies have found that daily exposure to nature can, among other things, help reduce feelings of stress, and even improve your self-esteem. And some of the research even say's that fishing has also been proven to be MORE effective than hiking, camping, or biking as a mental health aide, making it the leader of all outdoor hobbies for mental wellness.

We wanted to come up with a plan on how we can help people. We know we could just raise some money and donate it, but we wanted to do more to help. So after much discussion about how fishing has helped us so much with our own struggles, we decided we wanted to start a kids and youth fishing program.

Click here to register someone or yourself for free fishing trips. This link will send us an email. If you can tell us your name, age, some contact details and a little bit about why you want to go fishing and we will get back to you as soon as we can, with all the details.

FNZA FISH 4 FREE is open to all kids and young people. However if you or your young person is under the age of 13, you will need a supervising adult to attend.

The program has been set up to take groups of young people out on fishing trips for free. The idea it to do some fundraising, and hopefully gather up some sponsorship, which will pay for the costs of the fishing trips and enough funds to provide each participant with lunch & drinks, plus a T-Shirt,  fishing rod and some starter packs they can take home with them, so if they want to go fishing in the future, they can. We have the skills and the boat to teach these kids how to fish and we believe that by passing on this knowledge to them, will certainly be of value to them in the future. We need people in our community to help us out, so if you think you can help in anyway, then please get in touch with us. We really would like to keep this going well into the future and make these trips as regular as possible, so every bit helps.

We know that just taking kids on fishing trips isn't going to fix all issues forever, but we do know for the time they are out on the water, they can just be kids having fun and learning new skills. And just maybe it will open a whole new world to some of them.

Proud Supporters of The Key To Life Charitable Trust and I AM HOPE

Here is a little bit about what The Key to Life Charitable Trust is all about and why we support them.

The Key to Life Charitable Trust (KTL) is a community focused support group aiming to forever change the way New Zealanders think, act, and feel about mental health and mental well-being. Our specific goal is to work alongside health professionals, service providers, and those within our communities to promote positive attitudinal change throughout Aoteoroa.

At KTL we’re about normalising the inner-critic - the voice inside all of our heads that has second-guessing everything we do, the voice of doubt that beats us up and tells us we’re failures, that we’re substandard, and even worthless.  Having an over active inner critic is not a sign of mental illness in fact it’s a sign that a person is perfectly normal.  Our job is to let the people, the youth, the children of Aoteoroa know that dealing with our the inner-critic is something all of us experience everyday of our lives.  We see it as our job to let our people that opening up and talking about the things that scare and worry them will help make a significant difference to the well-being of New Zealand.

We are passionate about getting this project up and running. And we are passionate about all the awesome work these guys are doing. So please help us support them. If you would like to donate to KTL and I Am Hope, please click on the donate button at the top right hand side of this page, below the I am Hope Logo.
